This town.

This cozy hug of a small town.

It feels like a warm cup of tea on a cold day.

It feels like the crackling of a fireplace inside a cottage.

It feels like a summer’s breeze whispering through the leaves.

It feels like biting into a perfectly salted chocolate chip cookie (from the Almonte Butcher Shop) after you’ve just been told that the calories have magically been removed.

I was living in Ottawa the first time I heard about Almonte. Someone I knew had bought a house here and everyone was making fun of her as though she had just agreed to move to the middle of nowhere and travelled back in time to 1920.

Safe to say…
the joke is on them.

I was lucky enough to move here six years ago at a time when my life was literally falling apart, and I can tell you that it was the perfect place to put myself back together. Known as the friendly town, this place is filled with kind people with genuine hearts, gorgeous views, historic buildings, amazing food, wonderful shops, and enough successful small businesses to make you believe that anything is possible.

This series is My Love Letter to Almonte and after 13 paintings I can tell you that I am nowhere near done saying thank you, and probably never will.
