TWO PETALS ON A TABLE
She’s a simple one.
Stripped down to basic black and white. But in that simplicity I think she makes a pretty bold statement.
I’ve been told that she looks almost as if she’s a wood carving and that is because I discovered a new technique while painting this one. I started off painting the composition with white paint on the black background, but then after that was done I went back in with the black paint and ‘carved’ into the image leaving it with a sculptural effect. I’ve since used this technique (I’m sure I didn’t invent it, and I’m sure it has an actual name) again and again.
This painting is 30 inches wide by 40 inches tall. It is painted in acrylic on archival-quality natural cotton canvas, and finished with a matte varnish so this piece will stand the test of time.
